One of the great things about Colorado is that there’s something for everyone. Whether you prefer tearing up the slopes, attacking a single track or feel more comfortable taking in a Rockies game, you’re covered.

I’ll admit it, I’m not always the bravest person in the room. So while I love hiking and camping in our amazing mountains, I have never really envisioned myself scrambling up a rock face. I’ve frequently looked up in awe at the folks in Eldorado Canyon, thinking about what a rush it must be and how amazing it must feel to see the world from locations only the brave few will ever see...

And then, feet firmly planted, I buy my Rockies tickets.

Never again! I am ready to learn more and squelch my fears about rock climbing. Well, I’m at least ready to learn more.

And truly, there’s no better place to do it than at the Outdoor Adventure Expo at Cherry Creek State Park. Climbing experts will be on hand to calm my nerves and give me insight into the rules of the rock. I’ll also have the chance to see exactly what kind of gear I’ll need as a novice climber and learn which parks might be best for a climbing newbie.

You might think that’s expected knowledge from an outdoor expo, but it’s actually only part of getting into rock climbing in Colorado!

As cool as starting to climb will be, there's so much more. I’ll learn more about why and when some popular climbing spots around the state close for the safety of our furry and feathered Colorado residents. One big reason to get into an activity like rock climbing is to feel like I'm one with nature. So the last thing I want to do is make a rookie mistake that puts me at odds with our awesome wildlife.

When it comes to outdoor activities in Colorado, learning specific moves or how to use particular equipment is only part of the education. Come learn more than you might expect about your soon-to-be favorite new adventures at the Outdoor Adventure Expo!
